Man Utd: Ten Hag 'looking at' signing 'unbelievable' £31.5m star at Old Trafford

Manchester United are looking at Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Erik ten Hag is hoping to improve his squad this summer, and Jones says his former Ajax player is definitely a target.

Speaking on the The United Stand, the reliable Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Timber would be happy to reunite with Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

The £31.5m-rated 20-year-old has been linked with a move to United, with The Guardian reporting last month that their new manager is keen on signing him.

He was an important player for Ten Hag last season, making 30 appearances in the Eredivisie and eight in the Champions League.

Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni are two other centre-backs who are said to be of interest to the Red Devils, though a move for the latter looks unlikely after his agent claimed that he would be staying at the San Siro this summer.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Timber is a player who United are considering, as Ten Hag wants to bring in a couple of additions who are familiar with his football.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “Jurrien Timber, for sure, is somebody that they’re looking at. Ten Hag wants to sign a couple of players that understand him and how his teams function, so Timber would obviously help solve the problem at centre-back in terms of depth and quality and competition for places as well.”

There is a good possibility because you would expect United to do everything in their power to sign a new centre-back before the transfer window closes.
