Man Utd: Ten Hag now facing worrying situation over £27m star at Old Trafford

Manchester United‘s situation involving Cristiano Ronaldo is not a good look for the Red Devils, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £27m-rated forward recently expressed his desire to leave United less than 12 months after making a sensational return to Old Trafford.

Despite United’s poor sixth-place showing last season, which saw them miss out on Champions League qualification, it was another productive campaign on a personal level for the Portuguese.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions, 18 of which came in the Premier League, which helped him earn a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

But United’s failure to finish in the top four has led to the 37-year-old asking to leave the club if they receive a ‘satisfactory’ offer for his services.

If Ronaldo gets his wish, it will leave United without a recognised senior striker at the club after Edinson Cavani was released at the end of his contract.

As a result, Jones reckons that it would be a tough situation for manager Erik ten Hag, who’s less than two weeks into the job.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It doesn’t look good that Ronaldo is looking to leave at this moment in time, it’s not ideal, especially on the back of not signing [Darwin] Nunez.

“If they’d managed to get Nunez, this might have been okay, but all of a sudden, him going to Liverpool is an even bigger blow because they don’t have that figure to come in and lead the line.”
