Man Utd star reveals how he plans to win over Erik ten Hag early on

Anthony Elanga and Scott McTominay say they are both desperate to impress incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

The new United manager has already begun plotting for next season having sealed the Dutch title with Ajax last week and could be in the stands for the final game of the season against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

While ten Hag is expected to oversee major changes to the squad, McTominay and Elanga will hope to be part of the Dutchman’s plans next season having already done their homework on the incoming manager.

‘You can see the way they [Ajax, under ten Hag] were playing in the Champions League, not only this season but prior to this season, the way they have done in the leagues,’ Elanga told Sky Sports.

‘He has got a fantastic record in Europe and the way he has developed young players, players that I have played against in the youth team as well as in the national team. I have got kind of an idea of what he can bring to the team, and I am really excited to work with him.’

When asked if he had spoken to other pros about what to expect from ten Hag, Elanga added: ‘I have actually! I have spoken to some of those players, when I played against them in the U17 Euros, so I have had a chat with them. All positive.’

While the United squad will head off for their summer break at the end of the month, McTominay admits he will ‘never switch off’ to ensure he makes an early and positive impression on the new boss.

‘Your switch off time is your holiday with your family, but even then I am still thinking ‘I need to train, I need to go and do some stuff’ to make sure I am in peak condition for the new coach,’ McTominay said.
