Man Utd's telling response to Aaron Wan-Bissaka contract request involving Erik ten Hag

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will reportedly be forced to wait on Erik ten Hag 's verdict before signing a new contract at Manchester United.

The right-back, who joined the Red Devils for £50million in the summer of 2019, has two more years on his current deal but could be surplus to requirements as Ten Hag bids to rebuild a bloated squad. Wan-Bissaka wants to remain at Old Trafford for the new era, with the Sun claiming that he is ready to agree new terms.

After United recently blocked enquiries for the 24-year-old, his representatives are said to have proposed a new long-term contract. However, the club are reluctant to make any decisions before Ten Hag runs the rule over their underperforming squad in pre-season.

Crystal Palace have been linked with re-signing Wan-Bissaka, but his eye-watering wages mean even a loan deal would be difficult to negotiate. The England youth international, also eligible for DR Congo, has lost his status as the Red Devils' first-choice right-back, with Diogo Dalot usurping him under Ralf Rangnick.

Dalot is set to be part of Ten Hag's plans, with his attacking qualities outweighing his weaker defensive attributes compared to the steady Wan-Bissaka, who was a favourite under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Doubts over his future at the club have been voiced throughout the season, with Old Trafford legend Roy Keane 's criticism sticking out.

"I don't even think Palace would take him back," Keane lamented on Sky Sports. "He's not good enough for Manchester United. No feel for the ball, decision making. But what Manchester United have always had over the years is players with character, with personalities - I don't see it with this group."
