Man Utd: Romano reveals Ten Hag wants £200k-a-week star to stay at Old Trafford

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is prepared to give Marcus Rashford a chance at Old Trafford, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The United academy product has endured a difficult year or so for the Red Devils, struggling for consistent starts under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim manager Rangnick – he played just 1,233 minutes of Premier League football.

Indeed, back in March earlier this year, The Manchester Evening News reported that La Liga giants Barcelona had expressed their interest in signing him amid uncertainty over his long-term future.

That news came following Rashford’s omission from the starting line-up for the Manchester derby, in which the Englishman was left on the bench despite the absence of several forwards.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano has revealed that United’s new manager intends on keeping Rashford at the club however, and offering him the opportunity to impress.

He said: “My personal opinion, it’s not news, but a personal feeling, Rashford will have a conversation with Erik ten Hag. But, speaking with some sources, Ten Hag is prepared to give him a chance to change the situation. He feels he could be an important player for Manchester United in the future.”

Valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, there’s no questioning Rashford’s career has taken a downturn over the past 12 months, with United’s struggles as a team not helping his cause either.

The England international managed just four goals and two assists in 25 Premier League games last season, and was barely a peripheral figure under interim Rangnick – he completed the full 90 minutes just once in the entire calendar year.
