Gary Neville prank call: When Man Utd legend fumed at troll

There are so many upsides to being a professional footballer at the highest level.

However, one of the downsides for a footballer is the amount of trolls that they have to deal with.

And Gary Neville lost it with one such troll after his phone number was leaked.

Back in 2016, a video of Neville being on the wrong end of a prank call went viral.

The Manchester United legend had been receiving multiple calls and was seriously wound up when a lad known as ‘John’ phoned him up for a chat.

Neville is livid right from the outset and uses a number of expletives.

John explains that his number has been given out by a pupil at a school.

Neville responds by claiming he will take the matter to the police if John doesn’t find out exactly who gave out his number.

John then claims it was Tony Adams’ son who gave it out. Neville replies: “Who is Tony Adams?”

John keeps his composure and replies, “You know, he used to play for Arsenal.” Neville isn’t amused though and replies: “Shut up you f****** d***.”

But at the same time the whole exchange was comical. How John didn’t burst out laughing we will never know.

His Sky Sports colleague, Jamie Carragher, was one of many who have found the exchange hilarious.

Taking to Twitter in 2016, Carragher commented: “Tony Adams’ son… I haven’t even got his number!”

In 2018, Neville was asked on Twitter whether he ever found out the identity of the prankster. Neville
