Ian Wright has urged Liverpool to sign Harry Kane this summer

Ian Wright wants Liverpool to join the race for Harry Kane as momentum continues to build over a potential move to arch-rivals Manchester United.

It seems that just as the noise surrounding Kane had finally shrunk to a whisper, the fast approaching summer transfer window has reignited the fire of speculation as to where the Englishman will play his football next season.

It’s no secret he tried to force a move away from north London last summer. The desired destination was Manchester City, the club he deemed best fit to satisfy his desire for trophies, but now it seems the most likely destination could be the red side of Manchester.

That is, unless, another European giant swooped in and took him from under United’s nose. Kane has struggled through a difficult season by his own very high standards – finding the back of the net 12 times in the league so far is hardly vintage Kane – yet seven goals in his last seven might turn a few heads back in his direction.

Ian Wright certainly sees it that way: “You can see why teams would want him [Harry Kane], any team in the world would want him. Just look at his finishing and his hunger and his consistency.”, he told the Kelly and Wrighty show.

“When he does finally retire, you just hope he’s won something. I hope he can win something because he deserves it. He looks happier now but he has a big decision to make.”

It seems that Wright, though, believes Liverpool would be a more fitting destination and talked up the idea of an attacking trident that included Kane in a Firmino-esc capacity.
