Man Utd plan to include player in bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane

Manchester United are considering including Anthony Martial as part of their bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to reports.

United are set to be in the market for a new forward this summer with Edinson Cavani expected to leave the club once his contract expires, while the future of Cristiano Ronaldo looks uncertain with United not yet guaranteed a place in next season’s Champions League.

Martial, meanwhile, pushed to leave United in the January transfer window as he was unhappy with his lack of regular football and was allowed to join Sevilla on loan for the rest of the campaign.

The French forward has struggled to make an impact with just one goal in eight appearances, and was criticised for his performances leading up to the international break.

According to ESPN, United would be willing to include Martial as part of their deal to sign Kane in order to offset the cost, as Spurs are demanding a transfer fee in excess of £100 million.

However, the report also claims that Martial’s preference would be to join another team in La Liga or move to Serie A instead of remaining in the Premier League.

Kane, meanwhile, played down speculation over his future when asked about a possible move last week.

‘Obviously my main focus is just finishing this season, first and foremost,’ said Kane.

‘We’re still in a competition for the top four and that’s where my focus lies. I can’t control what will happen in the future. It is a big year for everyone. Not just me.

‘I want to be going into that tournament [the World Cup] in the best form possible so it’s just about controlling what I can control and that’s doing what I have been doing the last few months.
