Ralf Rangnick has reportedly been stripped of responsibility in the process of Manchester United appointing a new boss.

The interim manager is in charge of the Red Devils for the remainder of the season before he takes a two-year consultancy role in the summer. It's been reported that Rangnick has been involved in the search for his successor, but this may no longer be the case.

Rangnick has already advised the board that the new man needs significant backing in the transfer market while giving his seal of approval for Erik ten Hag, who is a leading contender for the role.

But The National News claims that Rangnick has 'limited say in the matter' and has been asked to concentrate on finishing the season as strongly as possible. United are currently seventh in the Premier League, with the team having won eight, drawn six and lost two of the league games since he took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rangnick will have a say on the rebuild of the squad, however, as Bild claims he is an advocate for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer. The report says the Austria international, who joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2017 when Rangnick was their sporting director, has emerged as a summer
