Man Utd 3-1 Arsenal: Clip of ‘Erik ten Hag ball’ in build-up to Antony’s goal goes viral

Manchester United fans are buzzing after a clip showing the full build-up to Antony’s debut goal against Arsenal went viral on social media.

Erik ten Hag’s reign couldn’t have got off to a worse start following humiliating back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford.

But whatever the Dutch coach and his backroom staff did with the players on the training ground during their week off before the Liverpool game on August 22 clearly made an enormous impact.

Since then, United have looked a completely different team and have now put together a run of four straight victories, lifting them off the foot of the Premier League table to fifth.

Following their 3-1 win over league-leaders Arsenal on Sunday, the Red Devils are now just three points off top spot and two points behind second-placed Manchester City.

The recovery that United have made in such a short amount of time has been quite remarkable and Ten Hag deserves all the plaudits that are currently coming his way.

Old Trafford erupted when £86 million deadline day signing Antony netted the opening goal in the 35th minute.

The Brazilian winger, left unmarked at the back post, dispatched Marcus Rashford’s pass into the bottom corner of the net past Aaron Ramsdale.

While much of the focus was on Antony’s finish and celebration – and understandably so – the build-up to the goal went under the radar at the time.

Over the course of a full minute, United produced 18 passes, switching the ball across the pitch and even going back to goalkeeper David de Gea at one point.

Ten Hag’s men stayed patient as they looked to open up their opponents – and one clever pass from Christian Eriksen to Bruno Fernandes between the lines was the key moment in the move.
