Man Utd: 144-goal South American could "play off Ronaldo" at Old Trafford

Manchester United signing Paulo Dybala would only work out if he gets to play off of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Juventus forward has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Jones has doubts over whether he would fit into the Red Devils’ team.

Dybala will be leaving Juventus next month when his contract expires after seven years at the club.

In terms of potential destinations, United, Arsenal and Newcastle United have all been mentioned as outfits with an interest in the 28-year-old.

According to ESPN, the Premier League trio have all been in contact with his representatives over a free transfer.

It is Juventus’ Serie A rivals Inter Milan, however, who are thought to be leading the race for Dybala’s signature.

For Dybala to be a success at United, Jones thinks the Red Devils would have to change system and use the Argentine in a position that would see him play off of Ronaldo.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “I don’t really see that Dybala is a good fit for Man United the way that they currently set up. Dybala needs to play off of someone. If United are going to change their system so that somebody is playing off of Ronaldo, then potentially – and obviously they know each other.

“I’ve also got reservations about Dybala’s injury record and his ability to adapt to the Premier League quickly, so I’m not sure Dybala is the right fit or going to come to the Premier League.”

As Ten Hag prepares to rebuild United, the last thing the Dutchman needs is a player who does not fit into his team.

If he thinks he can make it work, however, then the Red Devils have to snap up Dybala
