Man United weigh up managerial candidates as Ineos admission made over Erik ten Hag decision

Ineos are continuing to weigh up the future of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and have put no timescale on delivering a review into the 2023/24 season.

Club officials and Ineos chiefs are running their eye over the previous campaign, which includes an exhaustive take on the leadership of the first-team and Ten Hag's role in the successes and failures of a season which ended in FA Cup glory but yielded only eighth in the Premier League.

Ten Hag remains on holiday and isn't involved in discussions with Ineos over the review. The 54-year-old will want clarity on his future sooner rather than later. He has just a year remaining on his Old Trafford contract and talks over a new deal are likely if Ineos opt to stick with him.

That has looked more likely the longer the delay has gone on and this weekend will mark two weeks since the final game of the season, when United caused an upset at Wembley to beat Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final. But it is understood the review into the season hasn't yet been completed and while United want to resolve the issues that will emanate from it, there is no deadline to do so.

Ten Hag's hopes of survival were certainly boosted by the manner of the FA Cup final win but if he is to survive then the key decision-makers at the club want to make sure it is a considered decision, rather than one made on the high of a memorable day at Wembley.
