Man United tipped to beat Chelsea and Liverpool to £65m England defender

Manchester United are the favourites to complete a transfer for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi this summer, according to bookmakers.

The centre-back has been one of the standout performers for England in their Euro 2024 campaign so far, helping Gareth Southgate’s men to keep two clean sheets in their three group games. While the team have generally come under criticism for their performances, Guehi has been praised for how he has adapted to international football.

It’s perhaps no surprise then that clubs have been credited with an interest in signing him during the summer transfer window. United are one of the teams said to be watching him as their search for a centre-back goes on.

MEN Sport understands that United are keen to sign two centre-backs this summer following the departure of Raphael Varane. Erik ten Hag’s side have seen a bid rejected by Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite with the Toffees valuing him at £70-80 million, a price that could see them move onto other targets

Reports suggest that Palace will be looking for a fee of at least £65 million if they are to cash in on Guehi this summer. And United are not the only team interested with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham all previously mentioned.

Bookmakers at Gambling.com have now had their say on where they will think that Guehi will be playing his football in the new season. United have been named favourites with odds of 2/1, ahead of Chelsea (11/4) and Liverpool (3/1).
