Man United star suffers another nightmare just weeks after Roy Keane heaped praise on him

Roy Keane's kind words on Alejandro Garnacho have come back to haunt him following his blunders at the start of the new Premier League season.

The former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit was full of praise for the 20-year-old Argentine sensation after his goal in the Community Shield against Manchester City earlier this month. The skilful winger sent shockwaves through Wembley by breaking the deadlock at the 82-minute mark with a remarkable solo effort – weaving into the centre and driving a low shot past Ederson.

However, United's celebrations were cut short seven minutes later when Bernardo Silva outmanoeuvred Diogo Dalot at the far post to head home past Andre Onana, taking the match to a penalty shootout. Despite United's eventual defeat in the shootout 7-6, Keane didn't hold back on praising Garnacho for the contribution he made that day.

While commentating on ITV, the 53-year-old said: "I tell you what all the really good players do. The really, really good players impact the game and every time he's on the football pitch he has an impact, he does something. He cuts in, lovely little finish. When he comes onto the pitch I kind of expect this from him now.

"You knew he was going to create something. You knew he was going to have an effect. If you're a defender you do not want to mark him because he will run at you, he will try something, he will create problems," reports the Mirror. However, Keane might be questioning his own judgement now, given Garnacho's tough moments already in the 2024/25 Premier League season.
