Man United 'plot' Real Madrid transfer hijack as Viktor Gyokeres pathway emerges
Manchester United are, reportedly, ready to go head-to-head with Real Madrid in the race to sign Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.
The 24-year-old Canada international has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena. It means he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from New Year's Day.
Davies, who signed for the Bundesliga giants from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019, has already won five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League during a glittering spell in Germany - under managers including Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann and England national team-bound Thomas Tuchel.

However, Davies has been linked with a move to the reigning Spanish and European champions Real at the end of this season, although reports in Spain indicate that United are "determined to challenge" Madrid's chase for the full-back as they look to overhaul their own defensive options.
Right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have been trusted with left-back responsibilities in the continued absences of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, for most of 2024, but the favoured 3-4-3 system of inbound head coach Ruben Amorim could require a more natural operator.
Meanwhile, reports from The Telegraph claim that United could be able to reunite Amorim with Sporting CP hot-shot Viktor Gyokeres for £63million. United have been heavily linked with a swoop for the former Coventry City, Brighton and Swansea striker, who fired a hat-trick in his team's 4-1 thrashing of Manchester City on Tuesday night.
The report adds that the Sweden international's release clause officially stands at £83million,
