Man United player’s stance revealed as Nottingham Forest eye fresh deal

Nottingham Forest are reportedly keen on signing Manchester United loanee James Garner permanently in the summer but he is keen to continue his career at Old Trafford. 

After impressing on loan in the second half of last season, Garner joined from United for the 2021/22 campaign and has been an important player in Forest’s turnaround under Steve Cooper.

The 20-year-old has featured 27 times in total this term, including helping the Reds beat both Arsenal and Leicester City in the FA Cup, and has missed just one Championship game since he returned to the City Ground.

It seems the East Midlands club are keen to keep him beyond the end of the current campaign as, according to journalist Ekrem Konur, Forest want to sign him permanently in the summer.

However, it is understood that the England age-group international wants to continue his career at Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this week that sources close to the player have revealed he’s optimistic that his impressive form in the Championship could earn him a place in United’s first team squad next season.

For the time being, however, his focus will be on the promotion push and the trip to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park this evening.

The Verdict 

Given how impressive he’s been since first arriving at Forest last January, it’s no surprise that the City Ground outfit want to sign him permanently.

He endured a slight dip in form at the start of the season but as it has with many of his teammates, the arrival of Cooper has rejuvenated him and he’s been back to his best in recent months.

Still just 20, you’d imagine that the Red Devils have no plans of letting him depart permanently any time soon and with his current deal running until 2024,
