Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo's stunning 2024 earnings revealed

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo is estimated to bank $220m (£168.7m) in 2024 making him the highest-earning footballer in the world for the sixth year in the past decade.

Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr in January 2023, following a well-documented falling out with manager Erik ten Hag and an ill-advised interview with Piers Morgan, opened the floodgates for the Portuguese international to earn remarkable sums of money. According to Forbes, this figure is supplemented by financial incentives, which are facilitated by the Saudi Pro League club.

This could well include his attendance at Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk's world title unification fight back in May. However, what it does not include is Ronaldo's personal sponsorship packages that he has accumulated through his fame.

Once those are taken into account, it is believed that Ronaldo has earned a startling $285m (£218.6m) for the calendar year. This eclipses his total for 2023, which stood at $260m (£199.4m).

Incredibly, according to Forbes' records, which began in 1990, only boxer Floyd Mayweather has managed to surpass that sum for a single year while still active across the whole of sport. Barcelona legend and Inter Miami player Lionel Messi is second on this year's list with a 'modest' pay packet of just $135m (£103.5m) for the year.

Kylian Mbappe is the first European-based player to make the list, coming in at number five with $90m (£69m) made this year, while Manchester City's Erling Haaland ($60m/£46m) and Kevin De Bruyne ($39m/£29.9m) sit sixth and tenth on the list, respectively.
