Manchester United tracking Sporting winger Geovany Quenda
Manchester United are tracking Sporting winger Geovany Quenda.
Quenda, 17, started on the right wing in the Portuguese champions' vibrant 4-1 thrashing of Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Sources say United have been following Quenda's progress since the start of the season and incoming United head coach Ruben Amorim gave Quenda his Sporting debut in August. Quenda is under contract at Sporting until 2027.
Born in Guinea-Bissau, Quenda has only made 17 appearances for Sporting and has already played twice for Portugal Under 21s. Portuguese sources have likened his talent and work ethic to Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka.

Quenda, previously in Benfica's academy until he switched to Sporting's at the age of 12, was named in the club's matchday squad by Amorim as a 16-year-old last November.
He became the club's youngest league scorer against Famalicão last month, beating Cristiano Ronaldo's record, and is Sporting's youngest player to start in the Champions League.
Amorim is expected to transfer his 3-4-3 formation to United, who have issues with incorporating their wide players into the system. Wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford prefer to operate higher up the pitch and were accused of not tracking back by former United captain Gary Neville.
Tottenham's 6-1 and 3-0 victories at United in 2020 and 2024 were underpinned by them exploiting the space behind United's wingers as they left the full backs exposed. Rashford started in both matches.
United have not been able to play a senior left back for the majority of the calendar year as Tyrell
