Man United injury news as five players set to miss Fulham clash amid Erik ten Hag headache

Premier League football is back and Manchester United will be aiming for the perfect start to the 2024/25 season with three points against Fulham at Old Trafford this evening.

Erik ten Hag's third season in charge of the Red Devils comes with some pressure after the backing from Ineos in the summer transfer window. Four players have arrived in Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui with over £140million spent so far.

Despite the four new signings, United come into the new football season with a number of first-team players out of action due to injuries. Fortunately, De Ligt and Mazraoui have trained with their new teammates meaning they are in line to make their debuts tonight.

It's in defence where Ten Hag is struggling. After being out for the majority of last season, there had been hope that Luke Shaw would be fit to start the season. However, the left-back has been ruled-out before a ball has been kicked.

On Tuesday, the club announced that Shaw will miss the start of the new campaign with a calf injury. United have said Shaw 'is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break'.

Deputy left-back Tyrell Malacia is also out, having been out injured for more than a year. The Dutchman last played for the club on the final day of the 2022/23 season but could return in the next couple of months. "He is not that far [off], but he is now in a progress situation," said Ten Hag.
