Man United icon David Beckham lands new job one day after Wrexham appearance

Manchester United legend David Beckham has announced he will be hosting a new programme during this season's Champions League.

'Beckham and Friends' will air on Paramount for the second legs of the Champions League semi-finals and final. The watchalong-style broadcast will see the former England captain watching the three high profile matches alongside friends in a 'Gogglebox inspired' show.

Explaining what to expect, Beckham told CBS Sports' Kate Scott: "I think each time will be a different personality, a different friend of mine. But like you guys, I love watching the game and I like watching a game in a certain way and most of the time it is with my children or my friends so it is going to be that kind of thing where I am sat there watching the games, commenting on the games with friends, talking about the game and not sometimes talking about the game." When asked by Micah Richards how high a bar Beckham was setting for guests, the 49-year-old insisted it was 'quite high' and that they wouldn't necessarily have to know too much about football.

Jamie Carragher then asked if that meant there would be no Gary Neville, to which Beckham confirmed there wouldn't be which received a big laugh. Neville and Beckham were seen together on Monday night at St Andrew's as they watched Birmingham City beat Wrexham 3-1 in League One.

Beckham was invited to the match by Birmingham's co-owner and NFL legend Tom Brady with Neville also there due his close relationship with his ex-United teammate. The pair were also joined in the director's box by Beckham's son Romeo.
