Man United great Gary Neville sends brutal reminder to Liverpool ahead of Champions League final
Gary Neville has reminded Liverpool that despite all of their success this season, they - or any other English team for that matter - are yet to match Manchester United's remarkable Treble triumph of 1999.
Thursday marked the 23rd anniversary of United's famous Champions League victory against Bayern Munich. Sir Alex Ferguson's side were staring down the barrel of a heartbreaking defeat in Barcelona until a last-gasp turnaround thanks to goals from Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer secured the trophy.
United remain the only side from England to have won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League all in one season but Liverpool have come very close this season. In fact, the Reds were actually in the running to be the first team to win the Quadruple but lost the title by a single point to Manchester City on the final day.

After already lifting the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season, Jurgen Klopp still has the chance to guide his side to a cup treble should Liverpool defeat Real Madrid in Saturday's Champions League final. However, it certainly wouldn't be the Treble.
While reminiscing about United's finest hour, Neville aimed a dig at his fierce rivals by reminding them they are still to beat the achievement and won't do so this season, regardless of what happens in Paris.
The retired right-back posted a photo of United lifting the famous European trophy in Barcelona and accompanied it with the caption: "26th May 1999. Some achievement, still never bettered in English football!"
