Man United great Gary Neville highlights Jamie Carragher's awful Champions League prediction

Manchester United icon Gary Neville has fired a cutting dig at Jamie Carragher after Liverpool were beaten in their Champions League final with Real Madrid on Saturday night.

Having won two domestic cups this season - and narrowly missing out on the Premier League title - the Reds were chasing a treble in Paris against the Spanish champions. However, despite starting the game on the front foot, they slipped to a 1-0 defeat when Vinicius Junior scored a second-half winner.

Billed as a revenge mission after the shoulder injury Mohamed Salah suffered in Kyiv, it was a vibrant start from Liverpool, but they failed to make that dominance pay in the opening 45 minutes. Jurgen Klopp and his men also came up against an inspired Thibaut Courtois.

He made several stunning saves as Real went on to pick up their record-extending 14th European crown. Needless to say, it was a result that drew celebration from United fans and Neville stuck the boot in with some rather brutal comments on Twitter.

Neville continued to joke at Carragher's expense on Instagram. Of course, the two figures share a box office relationship on-screen due to their respective loyalties.

In a string of stories uploaded to the social media platform, former United captain Neville said: "Morning everyone. How are we this morning? Jubilant? Oh dear. I've looked and the messages I've received most this morning say 'what have you reduced yourself to?'. No, no. Let me get this really clear, I was celebrating Liverpool losing when we were good , let alone when we're bad ."

Going on to tag Liverpool great Carragher in a further message, he reposted a clip from CBS
