Man United dream Viktor Gyokeres £67m transfer scenario is playing out for Ruben Amorim

Everyone connected with Manchester United knows they must sign a striker this summer.

It's why there may be some disconnect that the Reds have missed out on what looked to be a relatively simple deal to sign Ipswich Town's Liam Delap. Here is a player with Premier League experience who is available for £30million after the Tractor Boys' relegation to English football's second tier.

But would a young striker like Delap be able to cope with the pressure of leading the line for Ruben Amorim's side? It's a responsibility that has weighed heavily on the shoulders of Rasmus Hojlund since arriving from Atalanta. Moving from Ipswich to Old Trafford would be a huge step up.

Reports that Chelsea are set to sign the 22-year-old may, therefore, work in United's favour. The Blues are also said to be interested in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, which would surely end their interest in any other players in that position.

One of those was reportedly Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres, a No. 9 who has inevitably been linked with a move to Old Trafford since his former head coach, Amorim, arrived at M16 in November.

Another club linked with the Swede, Arsenal, may also be turning their attention elsewhere this summer. Reports have claimed that the Gunners are currently leading the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

According to German outlet BILD, Leipzig are willing to open negotiations for Sesko at €70m (£59m), but they're aiming to rake in €100m (£84m). If Arsenal pay such a fee, Gyokeres is likely to see another club move on - leaving United as one of the few viable options.
