Man United 'consider using players in part-exchange' to sign Declan Rice and more transfer rumours

Manchester United could offer 'players in part-exchange' to snag Declan Rice but still face stiff competition, according to reports.

Though a new striker is United's top priority this summer - with talks being opened with Rasmus Hojlund - Erik ten Hag would also like to add another quality midfielder to his ranks to take the team to the next level after a promising first year in charge at Old Trafford. Rice has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent years and several interested parties are readying to test West Ham's resolve this summer.

German champions Bayern Munich are one such side but, according to the Daily Mail, Rice wants to continue playing in England and a move to another Premier League side is much more likely. Runners-up Arsenal are the front runners as they look to go one step further after a drastic improvement this season.

It's reported the Gunners will begin negotiations with a £90million offer following the Hammers' Europa Conference League final with Fiorentina this coming Wednesday. With Rice settled in London, Arsenal may be the preferred move but West Ham are said to value their talisman at £100million.

That sort of price tag is likely too high for United given the uncertainty surrounding the ownership situation and the need to invest elsewhere in the squad. However, it's reported, that United are considering an attempt to lower the price by offering players in part-exchange in a deal. Scott McTominay has fallen out of favour under Ten Hag and has long been linked with a move to the London Stadium as he enters the final year of his contract.
