Man United chiefs name two players who Ruben Amorim can transform into key stars

Ruben Amorim is set to work with a tighter budget than his predecessor Erik ten Hag, focusing on developing the current squad. The new Manchester United boss has already taken the reins at Old Trafford and he's preparing for his first game in charge against Ipswich Town this weekend.

Confidence is high within the club that Amorim can maximise the potential of expensive acquisitions like Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund. Having met with top executives including chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox since his arrival last week, the Portuguese tactician has been given time to evaluate his team.

According to The Telegraph, the way the squad responds to Amorim's methods will influence any future transfer decisions. The 39-year-old has expressed gratitude for the trust shown by the United leadership.

In his first interview, he said: "When Manchester United talked to me, Omar, they told me about their plans. It's a real honour because I was the first choice to start that path. So it's a great responsibility. But you feel honoured and excited to be part of that.

"And we know that if the team plays well and wins games, everything looks so much better and the people really start to believe in the new stadium and new ideas."

Amorim feels a strong rapport with key figures at Manchester United and believes they are all intent on achieving greatness. He added: "I felt a connection [with Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox] and I felt we are in the same moment. We want to do something special in the special club.
