Man United boss Erik ten Hag must avoid Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong trap amid Diogo Dalot interest

Since Erik ten Hag began his reign as Manchester United manager, several players have taken their game to another level. After an underwhelming campaign last season, the Reds have been much-improved so far this term, and a number of the players who struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick are now starting to demonstrate their quality.

One of those players is right-back Diogo Dalot, who made 30 appearances last season, with a lot of those coming under the interim manager following Solskjaer's sacking. After his loan spell in Italy with AC Milan, the defender struggled to cement a spot in the starting line-up - with his United future up in the air.

This season, though, the Portuguese defender has looked a completely different player, and his strong showings have limited Aaron Wan-Bissaka to just five minutes of Premier League football. He has started every game for Ten Hag's side and doesn't appear to showing any signs of slowing down.

Despite his strong start under Ten Hag, Dalot's long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, given that his contract is due to expire at the end of the season. While the Premier League side have an option to extend his deal for another year, Sport have reported that the Reds would be willing to sell Dalot for a fee in the region of £22million amid interest from Barcelona.

The right-back, who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window of 2018, was backed to become the heir to Gary Neville by then-manager Jose Mourinho. Dalot still has a long way to go to reach the heights set by the United legend, but he has proved this season that he has the ability to be a good option on the right
