Man United 'book flight' for as Ruben Amorim set for first transfer signing

Manchester United have reportedly booked a flight for Patrick Dorgu to arrive in the city on Thursday ahead of his January transfer.

MEN Sport reported on Tuesday that United were still working on a move to sign the Lecce winger-turned-full-back in the final days of the window. United's director of transfer negotiations Matt Hargreaves was in Italy last week to discuss terms with the Serie A club.

Despite this meeting, Lecce insisted on Sunday that they remained confident of keeping hold of Dorgu in this window as they aimed to retain their best players ahead of the run-in. However, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio understands that United have won the race for the 20-year-old.

He claims that a £25m deal has been agreed with the Italian club with £6.2m agreed in add-ons. With time running out in the January transfer window, the Reds are working hard to avoid deadline day drama.

As such, the report adds that Dorgu will fly into Manchester on Thursday to undergo his medical and complete the final pieces of paper work to become a United player. Should the deal transpire as such, it will signify United's first senior signing under Ruben Amorim since he arrived in November.

The Manchester Evening News understands Dorgu's potential arrival could be followed by the signing of Ayden Heaven from Arsenal. The Gunners' centre-back made his debut in the Carabao Cup earlier this season but is understood to have been tempted to Old Trafford thanks to the assurances of more first-team opportunities.

Arsenal's 18-year-old was at Old Trafford last week for United's 2-1 victory over Rangers in the Europa League.
