Man swapped Manchester city centre flat for all inclusive hotel in Turkey - because it was cheaper

A man spent a month in Turkey “living the dream” when he moved into a five star all-inclusive hotel after he realised it would be cheaper than renting his Manchester flat. Josh Kerr went viral on TikTok in February when he realised that it would cost him less to live in a resort for a month than his city-centre flat.

The 24-year-old discovered it would cost just £938 to book an all-inclusive resort in Turkey for 28 nights, including flights. After bosses at On the Beach spotted the viral clip, they challenged him to go ahead and fly out to Turkey.

Josh planned to work remotely during his stay and the On the Beach would cover his bills, council tax and rent while he was away. Now the TikToker is back in rainy Manchester and he told MailOnline that he's “living the dream.”

For 28 days he called the Port River Hotel and Spa in Antalya home, where he basked in 20C heat, enjoyed swims in the pool during his lunch break and trips to the beach. He told MailOnline that was a “premium way of living, for such a cheap cost.”

The benefits of his stay far outweighed those of his Manchester flat. Josh didn’t have to lift a finger for a month when it came to cooking and cleaning, and had the choice of “five pools”. He added: “Thinking about it, I need to get myself back to Turkey.”

There were a couple of downsides, though, as he was “craving a bit of bacon by the end” and the pools were rather chilly at this time of year. The overall experience was a success, and now Josh plans to tackle Las Vegas next.
