Man 'seriously assaulted' in 4am street attack outside pub fighting for his life

A man who was attacked outside a pub at 4am is fighting for his life in hospital, police have revealed.

The man, who hasn't been named, was said by Greater Manchester Police to be in a critical condition. The force has now issued a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward. No age for the victim has been released.

In a statement, GMP said the man was subjected to a 'serious assault' in Oldham town centre in the early hours of Monday morning.

He was said to have been attacked by another man outside The Bank pub on Yorkshire Street.

GMP said in the statement: "Officers in Oldham are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Oldham on Monday morning. At around 4.14am outside The Bank pub on Yorkshire Street, a man was assaulted by another male.

"The victim remains in hospital in a critical condition. Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault to come forward and assist their investigation."

Detective Inspector Andy Day, from Oldham CID, said: "This is a serious incident in which the victim of this assault remains in a critical condition in hospital.

"We are now appealing for people to come forward and help our investigation – no piece of information is too small. Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage can contact police on 0161 856 8962, quoting the log number 1424 of 15/07/24.

“Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111." No further details have been revealed.
