Man's fury after car ploughs into his garden wall for third time

A furious homeowner has called for action after a car ploughed into his garden wall for the third time.

Dramatic footage captured the moment the 'suspected stolen' vehicle smashed into a wall outside a house while being chased by police in Upper Chorlton Road, Firswood, just after 2am today (Monday).

The owner of the house, Mr Yousaf, told the Manchester Evening News how he was awoken by a 'massive bang'. He has now claimed it is the third time in seven years that a car has smashed into his garden wall.

"It's happened so many times," he explained. "I've lived here 30-odd years and this must have happened six or seven times.

"This is the third time in seven years. It's happening far too frequently."

Describing this morning's crash, Mr Yousaf said: "There was a massive bang. We woke up and jumped out of bed.

"There was a police car about 10 seconds after so we knew it was a police chase that took place. Luckily, I think the driver was fine."

The wall was left badly damaged, and was taped off by police this morning. However, no injuries were reported in the incident.

A man - aged in his 30s - was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

Following the previous crashes, Mr Yousaf said he had to pay for the wall to be repaired. He has now called on Manchester City Council to take action to prevent further incidents happening on the "sharp bend" outside home in future.

He added: "Last time we had to fork out, we spoke to the officers, we said we need to have some compensation.

"We can't keep forking out on the insurance all the time. Our premium went up
