Man 'punched and kicked in the head' in 'serious' park assault - now police want to speak to these four men

A man was 'punched and kicked in the head' as he lay on the floor in a vicious assault in a park. Police are now urgently appealing for information to trace four men they wish to speak to as part of their investigations.

Detectives have released CCTV images of four people, three of which were on bikes and the other on an electric scooter. Enquiries so far have established on August 5, 4.50pm, a 53-year-old man had been walking down a path in Sankey Valley Park, Warrington, near Old Alder Lane, when four males stopped him and began being verbally abusive.

They later proceeded to punch him to the face and head. He fell to the ground, where the culprits continued to hit and kick him in the face as he lay on the floor.

The victim was taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance with injuries to his face and has since been discharged. All four males rode away from the scene.

The male on the scooter was wearing a dark hooded jacket and trousers with a black covering over his face. Another male was wearing dark coloured clothing, a light covering over his face and had his hood up. A third boy was wearing dark coloured clothing. The fourth male was described as white, wearing a dark two toned top with black on the chest and shoulder, his hood was up and he wore dark trousers and shoes.

Detective Constable Lauren Pedley, of Warrington local policing unit, said: “Since the assault occurred, we have been conducting numerous enquiries including reviewing CCTV footage in the area.
