Man dies after falling from roof in Eccles - latest updates

A man has sadly died after falling from a roof in Salford, police have revealed.

Roads in the surrounding area have been cordoned off as Greater Manchester Police said inquiries into the tragedy were continuing today.

The force said police were called at 12.30pm today - Friday - to reports of a 'concern for welfare' on Trevor Road in the Winton area of Eccles, Salford.

A spokesman said the man concerned was 'located' on a roof, but fell a short time later and suffered injuries that proved to be fatal.

A police scene remained in place this afternoon. It's understood Parrin Lane in Winton is closed near to its junction with Trevor Road, at the Worsley Road end of Parrin Lane.

According to unconfirmed reports, the air ambulance was also called to the scene.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 12.30pm today (Friday 23 February 2024), officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare on Trevor Road, Eccles.

"Officers attended the scene and located the man on a roof. A short time later, the man subsequently fell and sadly sustained fatal injuries.

"A scene remains in place and inquiries are ongoing."

No further details have been revealed. The man hasn't been identified and no age for him has been released either.
