Man dies after collapsing at Cheshire golf club with air ambulance called

A man has died after collapsing on a golf course in Cheshire.

Land and air ambulance crews scrambled to Runcorn Golf Club at 9.35am on Wednesday following reports of a medical emergency. Paramedics were unable to save the patient, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The ECHO received a report from a member of the public on Wednesday that three ambulances including a helicopter had been called to the club, on Clifton Road. A Cheshire Police spokesman said next of kin were at the scene when the man collapsed.

It is understood there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. In a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon (March 8), the police spokesman said: “At 10.22am, March 8, police were made aware that air ambulance were attending an incident at a golf club in Runcorn.

“It followed reports that a man had collapsed on the course. Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not believed to be suspicious.”

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said crew attended the scene of a “medical emergency” at 9.35am on Wednesday.

Runcorn Golf Club has chosen not to comment on the matter following an approach from the ECHO.
