Man City Women player ratings as Ellie Roebuck sent off in fiery Manchester derby
Manchester City's hopes of Champions League next season have all but vanished after falling to defeat in a fiery Manchester derby at United's fortress Leigh Sports Village in front of a record crowd.
City went behind after just two minutes through United's Hayley Ladd, and it went from bad to worse just before half time when Ellie Roebuck was sent off for an unnecessary and heavy-footed tackle on Nikita Parris.
Despite being ripped apart by United in the first ten minutes, City grew into the game from the 20th minute putting pressure back on Marc Skinner's side who had been dominating the first 45.
City came back into the game in the second half but the pressure was too much and United wanted the win too much to keep their title hopes alive - but destroying Man City's hopes of Champions League football.

Ellie Roebuck
Saw a lot of early action, has no chance of saving Hayley Ladd's goal in the second minute, and great reactions to save Nikita Parris' shot on third minute. However it all went so wrong just before half time after taking out Nikita Parris outside of her penalty box and was sent off. Silly from Roebuck and the sending-off brought her score right down. 5
Esme Morgan
Didn't seem to cope well with the pressure of United - much like most of the City squad - but several mistakes from Morgan found her losing her players giving them more freedom than they already needed. Almost gave away a goal after losing Leah Galton in the 60th minute and not being able to keep up to chase her down. 6
