Alessia Russo's agent meets with Arsenal amid Manchester United contract talks

Alessia Russo remains a serious target for Arsenal amid months of Manchester United contract talks.

The Manchester United and England star's agent has recently met with Arsenal following months of speculation over whether she will stay at United after this season.

United rejected two world-record transfer bids from WSL rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window worth more than £400,000 when only six months were left on her contract, but Russo decided to remain a Red Devil.

However, the MEN understands the Gunners are still keen on her and her agent met with the North London side who will be looking to get to the Champions League final next season.

The striker has scored 10 goals, matching teammate Leah Galton's tally this 2022/23 league campaign, but aside from the goal tally, Russo is a hard-working number nine that defends from the front. Her energy leads the line, encouraging the rest to follow and carry United’s high-pressing reputation.

Arguably her most important goals of the season came against Arsenal, to steal the win and 'do the double' over the North London giants for the first time in club history.

Back in November, United were holding the Gunners to a 2-2 tie until Russo got on the end of Katie Zelem’s delivery to head home the winner in stoppage time for a dramatic late win at the Emirates.

United finished the WSL season in second place, just missing out on the title to Chelsea, but they have achieved European football for the first time in their history.
