Man City vs Manchester United stopped due to medical emergency

The Manchester derby was briefly paused on Sunday due to a medical emergency in the crowd.

The fixture had been contested at a high pace, with City scoring twice in the first half through Kevin De Bruyne either side of Jadon Sancho's fine strike for United.

However, referee Michael Oliver was forced to pause proceedings just after the half hour mark as fans at one end of the ground began to alert players and officials to an apparent medical emergency to a supporter.

Players heard the whistles from the stands, and Oliver quickly halted the game so the individual could receive treatment.

After a short stoppage of around five minutes, play got back underway, with various rounds of applause from the stand throughout the delay. As the game restarted, City fans sang their 'Blue Moon' anthem.

Earlier, both sets of players and fans had come together to send a message of unity for the people of Ukraine. City emerged wearing t-shirts with the Ukraine flag and the message 'NO WAR', while United wore the same message.

Both teams then lined up around the centre circle for a minute's applause as City fans unveiled a banner with the 'NO WAR' message and various Ukrainian flags were held aloft in the stadium.
