The best two sides in the land, possibly Europe, meet at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon and the stakes could hardly be higher.

Just a single point separates Man City and Liverpool with eight games of the Premier League season remaining and, given the relentless form of both sides, it is no understatement to say that this 90 minutes of football could decide whether the title stays in Manchester or goes to Merseyside.

It is also the first time that Man City have been odds-against for a home game this season. Pep Guardiola's side are 21/20 with Betfred while Liverpool are 12/5 to win at City for the first time since 2015 in the Premier League.

There really isn't a great deal between these sides and finding an angle into this game is difficult. City have been slightly better from a defensive point point of view (0.73 xGA per game compared to 0.99) but Liverpool have the edge offensively (2.69 xGF compared to 2.42).

Liverpool's record in this huge Premier League fixture isn't great - they have failed to win at the Etihad under Jurgen Klopp and have suffered a couple of thumping defeats (4-0 and 5-0) in recent years.

They have also not been as ruthless on the road this term as City. The Reds have failed to win five of their 15 away games and have dropped points at sides like Chelsea, Tottenham and Leicester. However, for all that Liverpool have dropped more points than City on the road, their goal tally is way ahead of anyone's. Liverpool are averaging over 2.5 goals per away game, which is quite remarkable.

Jurgen Klopp's side are capable of beating anyone on their day and they will fancy their chances of penetrating a City
