Man City vs Arsenal LIVE highlights and reaction as Blues lose Community Shield on penalties

Manchester City's season began with defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.

Cole Palmer looked to have put City on the verge of claiming the trophy with two minutes of normal time remaining to send the blue half of the stadium into raptures. However, Pep Guardiola's side would fall foul of the new stoppage time rules as Leandro Trossard equalised in the 11th minute of time added on.

Penalties ultimately cost City in the end as Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri both missed their spot kicks as the Gunners won 4-1 in the shootout. Fortunately for the Blues, the omens after losing the Community Shield are promising.

City lost last year to Liverpool in Leicester and ended up winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. However, Guardiola will be hoping to set things right again on Friday at Burnley.

It's a contrast to two months ago when City beat United at Wembley and they were lifting silverware, but City were taken to penalties following a double deflected effort, after going up a gear in the second half and looked set to win the Community Shield after Palmer's brilliant curling strike.

All focus now turns to the Premier League curtain raiser for City when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley on Friday evening.

Here is how he rated the Blues as they tasted defeat in the Community Shield.
