Man City transfer latest, Raheem Sterling to Chelsea, contract extensions and Nathan Ake updates

It has been a busy transfer window already for Manchester City this summer.

Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez have both arrived at the Etihad Stadium while Gabriel Jesus is set to be officially announced as an Arsenal player soon. Jesus however is not the only player linked with the exit door.

Raheem Sterling and Nathan Ake are both being sought by Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel looks to strengthen his squad. With pre-season around the corner, MEN Sport readers have been posing their questions to our chief City writer Simon Bajkowski.

Q: Any updates on Sterling? What are the chances that he stays in your opinion?

SB: "Sterling seems as good a place as any to start as he's likely to be the biggest outgoing. I'd be very surprised if he stays now given Tuchel has convinced the player so all Chelsea need to do is meet City's valuation.

"The only minor curiosity is why that hasn't been done yet."

Q: What about the future of Riyad Mahrez, and is there optimism about renewing his contract with City? And also what is the future of Sterling with the Blues?

SB: "As just said above Sterling is expected to leave. With him and Jesus going City can't afford Mahrez to leave (plus, it never felt like Mahrez would join another Premier League club and they are the ones doing the buying in this window).

"There's obviously a chance he signs a new deal, but equally there is more important business to attend to in this window."

Q: Do you know something about Yan Couto's future?

SB: "Couto was with City for last pre-season but he's no closer to the first team so you'd expect another loan or permanent exit this summer."
