Man City summer transfer plans might have just changed

Stefan Ortega has many reasons to be happy with his lot.

He has complete trust at Manchester City where the club fully supports him with the guarantee of some games. Fans have taken to him pretty much from the moment he played his first match and when he is not being serenaded by them outside Albert's Schloss he is seeing kind tweets from Oasis band members about his abilities.

While Manchester may not appeal to all foreign players, it reminds Ortega of his favourite German city of Hamburg and when he isn't frequenting Manchester city centre he enjoys the countryside close to his family home well away from the bustle. The club helped him to settle and he quickly thrived.

Life for a No.2 goalkeeper is never completely enjoyable though, and earlier in the season Ortega was getting itchy feet about his position. He turned down good offers to join City and rejected Bayern Munich's interest in the summer, yet being called the best backup goalkeeper is a backhanded compliment; it is not a sustainable situation for anyone with the talent and ambition that Ortega possesses.

With a contract running out in 2025, City already had to be prepared for a potential exit this summer for Ortega. There is a new deal on the table for him and the Blues would be delighted if he signed, although there is an acceptance that if he wants to be a No.1 a move elsewhere is inevitable.
