Man City star Rodri makes Mo Salah statement that speaks volumes amid Liverpool saga

Manchester City sensation Rodri has identified Mohamed Salah as one of his most difficult opponents, showing the Liverpool forward’s continued importance to Arne Slot’s project.

The absence of Rodri in City's midfield was heavily felt once more during their visit to Anfield on Sunday. With the Ballon d'Or winner still sidelined with an ACL injury, the Premier League champions were outclassed in a 2-0 defeat by Liverpool, allowing the Reds to go nine points clear at the top of the table.

Salah continued his astonishing form, assisting Cody Gakpo for the 12th-minute opener before scoring a penalty in the second half. The Egyptian talisman - who has notched a remarkable 13 goals and 11 assists already this season - dropped another bombshell regarding his contract at full-time, with the 32-year-old still yet to sign a new deal with Liverpool.

As it stands, he is free to join another club in the summer and can speak to clubs abroad as soon as January. When Sky Sports asked about his future at the club, Salah revealed: "Honestly, it's in my head.

"Until now, this is the last City game I will play for, so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible, so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully, we just win the league and will see what will happen."

His comments come just days after Rodri singled Salah out as the most formidable opponent he's faced in England, admitting, "I haven't seen any player play that way" - words Liverpool's hierarchy should take on board as Salah’s contract saga rampages on.
