Man City squad reactions as they left Arsenal reinforces Pep Guardiola's title race point

Except each of the three defeats in the last fortnight have come with their own individual caveats, and Pep Guardiola was calm when he spoke to the media after seeing City go down late at title rivals Arsenal.

Guardiola had insisted before the game that the contest wouldn't define the title, and repeated that message post-match when he reminded everyone that we are still in November, with 30 games - and 90 points - still to play for. The reaction to the Arsenal result felt a little over-dramatic, and Guardiola's calmness is a reminder that it was far from the worst result in the world.

City players knew it too, some quickly putting the disappointment behind them as they left the Emirates. The squad headed over to the travelling fans to thank them for their support a little quicker than usual, and headed off the pitch dejected, but not beaten. City might have lost against Arsenal, but on the balance of play they were not bettered. They also knew they were far below their best.

Arsenal earned a second successive result against them with an incredibly fortunate deflected goal in the dying moments. It's not like they have outplayed City for large portions at the Emirates or for the Community Shield. They just did enough to ensure their luck counted at the end.
