Man City squad numbers available to Jeremy Doku after transfer fee agreed

Manchester City are closing in on making Jeremy Doku their third signing of the summer transfer window.

The Manchester Evening News understands City have reached an agreement with Stade Rennais for the transfer of the 21-year-old winger. The Blues will pay 65million euros, around £55.5m, for Doku.

It takes City's spending up to £160m this summer following the arrivals of Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, though once Aymeric Laporte's transfer to Al Nassr is confirmed the club would have raised over £100m in sales.

The biggest of which has been Riyad Mahrez's £30m move to Al-Ahli which had left City short on options in wide attacking areas. After previously considering Michael Olise and Lucas Paqueta, Doku has been settled on as Mahrez's replacement.

Pep Guardiola's squad is already strained due to injuries, with Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Bernardo Silva all missing for Saturday's win over Newcastle. The Blues boss named a youthful bench which made the need for further reinforcements obvious, with Doku now expected to arrive as personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

7 - Though No.7 is currently occupied, its wearer Joao Cancelo is expected to leave the club. The full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich and though he featured during pre-season, he has not been involved in the opening two matches - even with City short on defenders. Barcelona are heavily linked with him.

If the number is available in time for Doku's arrival, it's sure to be a top pick as he wears it for his country and it's the perfect number for a brand-new winger.
