Man City midfielder Maximo Perrone joins Las Palmas on loan

Man City midfielder Maximo Perrone has joined UD Las Palmas on loan, the club has announced.

Perrone has linked up with the La Liga newcomers and will spend the entirety of the 2023/24 season at the Gran Canarian side. City rate the Argentine youngster highly and hope regular top-level football will aid his development.

Perrone moved to the Etihad from Velez Sarsfield in a deal totalling around £10m and surprised many by immediately linking up with Pep Guardiola's first team rather than heading straight back out on loan. The 20-year-old was named on the bench for the defeat to Tottenham shortly after his arrival and made his debut in February as a substitute against Bournemouth.

The midfielder looked sharp in his 18 minutes and made a second appearance a few days later with a two-minute cameo against Bristol City in the FA Cup. Though he has appeared on the bench multiple times since, as recently as Saturday's win over Newcastle United, he is yet to add to his two appearances.

City are now scrambling in the remaining days of the transfer window to bolster their ranks. Jeremy Doku should complete his £55.5million move from Rennes this week after undergoing a medical on Wednesday. The winger is being signed to replace Riyad Mahrez and should be confirmed in time to be involved against Sheffield United.
