Man City shirt numbers available to transfer target Lucas Paqueta

Manchester City are exploring a move for Lucas Paqueta.

Now City have signed Josko Gvardiol, their top target for the summer, their attention has turned to the other end of the pitch. The club are still mulling over how to best respond to the losses of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, with multiple options being considered.

A move could be made for a winger with Crystal Palace's Michael Olise on the radar but it appears that a further central option is the current plan with West Ham playmaker Paqueta a target. City insist a bid had not yet been made for the Brazilian but David Moyes claims his club have rejected an offer.

"We've had an offer from Manchester City, but at the moment it's not anywhere near meeting our valuation," he said, before adding after the draw with Bournemouth on Saturday: “There’s a price on everybody’s head. We have had news on Lucas, but not anything to make our heads wobble. Lucas Paqueta is an incredibly talented player."

Given the Irons paid a club-record £51.5million for Paqueta last summer they won't let him go for cheap, with their valuation understood to stand at £90million. That would be a steep price for City to pay for a player unlikely to go straight into the starting XI, but if they do sign Paqueta, here are the squad numbers currently available to him:

7 - Though it's not free just yet, the current occupier Joao Cancelo looks like he's heading out the door. The full-back has been expected to leave permanently all summer after he spent the second half of last season at Bayern Munich.

Speculation is growing that Cancelo is closing in on a move to Barcelona and his departure would free up the No.7 which Paqueta wears for Brazil.
