Man City send Premier League rivals £35m reminder that has been 'taken for granted'

When Man City's backs were against the wall in Saturday's hard fought 2-1 win over Brentford, Erling Haaland stood up to be counted once again by scoring a match winning brace of goals.

Bookmakers will already be counting their losses on the Norwegian winning a third successive Premier League Golden Boot, with the 24-year-old's incredible nine goals in four league games this season already handing him a six-goal advantage over his nearest rival.

But it is perhaps the contribution of one of his Man City team-mates that should be lauded just as much in the aftermath of a win that ensured City are the only team in the league who have gained maximum points from their opening four games of the season.

Indeed, Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy was quick to emphasise the impact of goalkeeper, Ederson, in changing the tide of the game after City fell 1-0 behind thanks to a goal from Yoan Wissa in the opening minute.

The Bees' press caused City a number of problems in the first half, and City boss Pep Guardiola admitted after the match that Brentford posed his side a major 'headache'.
