Manchester City were handed a blow in their quest for Champions League glory with a defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon.

City were beaten 4-1 by the Portuguese club, which is now their third successive defeat in all competitions. Pep Guardiola's side also lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup and Bournemouth in the Premier League prior to the clash against Sporting.

Phil Foden had opened the scoring for City, but Sporting responded with a hat-trick from Viktor Gyokeres as well as a goal from Maximiliano Araujo. City now have seven points from their first four Champions League games after being handed their first defeat in the competition this season.
