Man City player ratings vs Nottingham Forest with seven 8/10s as Mateo Kovacic stars
Manchester City will be back at Wembley next month after beating Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final. Goals from Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol earned a 2-0 win that keeps up City's chances of more silverware this season.
It was Forest fans making all the noise in the build-up to the game, but Lewis silenced them inside two minutes with a brilliant effort after a quality team move. Just as Forest looked to make inroads early in the second half, Gvardiol headed in a second.
Forest were unlucky on several occasions not to get a goal back, but the woodwork helped City on more than one occasion and they held out for a big win. Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.
Ortega: One excellent second-half stop, although he was occasionally guilty of taking too long in possession and being rushed. 7
Nunes: Picked up where he left off against Villa, doing his bit defensively and getting into excellent positions to support the attack. 8
Dias: There to spot the danger and do something about it every time, he also made sure his backline kept catching Forest offside. 8
Gvardiol: Lost a mark for nearly gifting a goal to Gibbs-White but another terrific display capped by a goal. 7
O'Reilly: His purple patch continued as he seemed to come out of every duel with the ball. A real threat going forward. 8
Lewis: An inspired pick as he drove at the Forest box whenever he got an opportunity, combining his tenacious side and work ethic with great intelligence in small spaces. 8
Kovacic: Arguably his best performance in a City shirt, finding the assist early on and running the game in midfield with barely a step out of place. 9
