Man City player ratings vs Crystal Palace with six 5/10s in FA Cup final woe
Manchester City were beaten at Wembley as Crystal Palace won a controversial match 1-0 to win the FA Cup for the first time in their history. Pep Guardiola picked an attacking lineup but they were undone by a swift counter in the first half as Eberechi Eze converted a Daniel Munoz cross.
The Blues were angry that Dean Henderson was not sent off for taking the ball away from Erling Haaland with his hands while outside his area, and even more irate when they won a penalty before half-time but missed it. Erling Haaland allowed Omar Marmoush to take and his effort was saved.
Claudio Echeverri came on for his club debut in the second half but was unable to get an equaliser as Palace did enough to see the game out. Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.
Ortega: Couldn't do much about the goal, and didn't have much else to do. A quiet day in a quiet season for him. 6
Akanji: Beaten by Eze for the goal and clumsy in the second half in the box to put City into trouble. 5
Dias: Wasn't always effective against Mateta but did well largely and important in keeping City playing high up. 6
Gvardiol: Beaten by Mateta at a crucial point, which was a shame because he was very good otherwise. 6
O'Reilly: Palace goal came down his side, and he couldn't quite get things gelling with Doku in the penalty area. Fell over his feet at the wrong time. 5
Silva: Won the penalty and managed to keep City in control for so much of the game in what was a very attacking team. 6
De Bruyne: Wasn't to be on his final Wembley appearance for City. Some moments of inspiration, but also some heavy touches and passes. 6
Savinho: Looked dangerous when he did get on the ball but couldn't stay involved in the game enough. 5
Marmoush: Isn't
