Man City player ratings as Rodri good but Erling Haaland struggles vs Crystal Palace

Ederson: Had nothing to do, to the credit of his defence. 6

Stones: Good to see him back, although never ideal to see him so far up the pitch with his back to goal. 6

Akanji: Mixed a tremendous knack for intercepting through-balls with the unfortunate bit of giving the ball away when he shouldn't. 6

Dias: Calm, composed but never casual. Dias didn't let anything past him all day. 7

Ake: Very good again pushing forward into the box and generally sound defensively, albeit booked for one late lunge. 7

Rodri: Went close early on and never stopped pushing City forward in search of a goal. 8

Gundogan: Pushed close to Haaland and linked well, while being aware of any danger that needed attention behind him. 7

Bernardo: Another all-action performance ticking off a range of positions. Did well in every role. 7

Foden: Looked the liveliest City attacker on the ball and tested Guaita, although also gave the ball away cheaply. 6

Grealish: His ability to create space was excellent, his final product to make the most of the space not so much. 7

Haaland: A really poor miss in the first half when fed by Ake, and was almost trying too hard to redeem himself. Took the penalty well. 6

Alvarez (for Foden, 58): Did better at creating shooting opportunities than taking them. 6

De Bruyne (for Bernardo, 79): One glorious crossfield ball for Grealish. 6

Walker (for Stones, 89)

Not used: Ortega, Laporte, Phillips, Lewis, Mahrez, Palmer
